New spring date:  (will NOT be confirmed until December 12th)... Sun Devil (ASU) Criterium - February 20th

Conference cyclocross championships are this weekend in Las Cruces - required for anyone wanting to go to CX Natls!  Even if you don't want to go to Natls, go on out and race - CX is a really good time!

Congrats to all the riders who attended MTB Nationals in Truckee!

A special congrats go to Erik Nelson of NAU who finished 3rd in DH and 5th in 4X.  Other competitors from the SWCCC include:  Matt Jones, Andrew Suter, Sea Canterbury and Fabian Reize (UA); John Heine, Nick Heine, Matson Hunter, Elliott Leonard, Scott Preston and Jake Rehfeld  (UNM), and Kevin Reeves, Alex Winkler, Nick Romolino and Matts Hanssen (NAU).

The few photos I took at the Dust Devil race are up.  The promoter is still trying to sort out why Diego Kissack and Brandon Quam did not get scored (sorry guys!).  So the minute I have the corrected information, I will post the results and the final points.

Please read the below post if you are interested in CX!

For ROAD season, teams - please let me know what you are thinking as far as dates go.  These are the TENTATIVE dates that I have so far:

January 29th  - UA Crit, Tucson
March 12-13th - NMSU TT & Hillsboro RR, Las Cruces/Hillsboro
(pending)  Tucson Bike Classic - will likely have collegiate categories (will be combined with the USAC categories)... still working with the promoter on this, so this is still tentative.

A bunch of new collegiate rules will be in effect for 2011, including some for the road season.  These include changed requirements for Nationals eligibility.

New Mexico Cyclocross Flyer posted in races section.

Those wanting to go to CX Nationals MUST attend the November 6th race in Las Cruces, which will be the SWCCC CX Championship.  It is strongly encouraged that if you want to attend CX Nationals, that you attend some/all of the other races, as the more experience you have going into CX Nationals, the better!  Thank you NMSU and NM Cross!

Thanks for another good turnout this weekend. Results and updated points are up. Photos will be up asap

It was great to see NAU out there.  Congrats go to Collin Costello, a Cat C from NAU who won the Cs as well as the overall beginner race, for which he also received a jersey.  And a big thanks to the promoters, who were nice enough to award the collegiate medals on site, understanding the need to get going in the long drives.

A couple of things:

1.  I have been notified (thanks Logan!) that there are no collegiate categories listed for registration for the McDowell Mtn race on October 9th.  I have contacted the promoter and will let you know when this is fixed asap.   FIXED 9/28/2010

2.  Regarding the Dust Devil/McDowell/SWCCC MTb Championship race... you will NOT be allowed to race if your race category does NOT match your collegiate license!!!!!!  No more riders "deciding" that they are such-and-such category the day of the race.  The promoter and his registration people have been notified that this is the case.  Please follow the instructions below and request your upgrades from me before the race.  It is a relatively painless and quick process.

3. Downhill/gravity riders... please send me your race resumes as soon as possible so I can make sure you are qualified and then certify you to attend Natls if you meet the requirements.  I would like these by the end of this week (October 2nd) if possible.  If you have attended in previous years, please send me an updated resume.  Email: nellis@usacycling.org

Thank you!

It was great to see everyone this weekend! The results are up on the results page and the updated points are also available.

Photos from this weekend and previous seasons coming soon!
There will be other collegiate CX races in NM - flyer coming soon.

Reminders to all riders:

1.  Please please please make sure you put your team name down on your registration form for races.  Even if you manage to forget it if you do online registration, please make sure that you tell the person who is doing registration to fill it in for you.  We have a few unidentified riders from yesterday - I have no idea what teams they rode for (and subsequently, how to assign team points).

2.  If you want to upgrade, you need to login to your USAC account, go to the "license" tab, scroll down to the collegiate section and click "request upgrade."  You will then need to cut & paste a brief race resume/a few sentences about why you should be upgraded.  You cannot just decide that you were an X category last race, and for this race you want to be "X+1" category.  I am relatively quick with processing the upgrade requests, but the proper procedures still need to be followed. Thank you!

Just a quick reminder of the High Desert Screamer this coming Saturday!

Hope to see everyone at the Horny Toad Hustle MTB race in Las Cruces this weekend!

Thank you to all the riders who have been requesting upgrades before they get to the races; it really makes the promoters' lives so much easier.

Cyclocross:  New Mexico is having a cyclocross series (Oct 3rd - November 21st) that will have collegiate categories.  I do not know at this point if those collegiate races will be USAC-sanctioned.

However, New Mexico State University will be hosting two of the races (part of the Cruces Cross weekend) in the NM series on November 6th and 7th.  The November 6th date will be the SWCCC Cyclocross Championship! So for all you CXers who want to attend CX Nationals, here are a number of great opportunities to polish your skills and perhaps become a conference champion in CX.
